VIRTUE OF TOLERANCE by Peace M. Agboola

VIRTUE OF TOLERANCE

O virtue of great toil

our country has been in constant turmoil

Where bribery spreads like whirlwind

Where colossal of corruptions converge like Corona

A den of legal thieves and wealthy debtors.

With peanuts, they entice---

Oh, the poverty-striken youths...

Voters votes traded with crumbs from the national cake.

Sugar-coated lips, seductive statements ,

unredeemed promises of a better nation,

Turning deaf to the masses cries

You live in your mansion while we are but a homeless, ill-treated hustlers

You run abroad for medical treatment

And leave our mushroom hospital deadened

Education for too long has been a rough road

Strike today, strike tomorrow, starvation thereafter,

Half-baked builders, half-baked students,

How your potholes slow down the speed of the people!

Let us overlook every flaws

And work to remove our claws

Let us rise as patriots, to defend our country against bad government

Till the dreams of our fore-fathers comes to reality.
